Agent Orange, Our Children, Their Health and Birth Defects

Agent Orange, used in Vietnam, has been accepted as the cause of many health terminal illnesses and deaths.  Now there is serious concern that its legacy is linked to birth defects and health problems in the children of the children and grandchildren of Veterans exposed to it.  The VA has been in this discussion, as have Veteran Service Organizations.  CLICK HERE to view the VA webpage.

Veterans Last Patrol

The following e-mail was received from Al Adams, a Veterans Patrol activist:

"Gentlemen,

On Saturday, December 18th at 1300 Veterans Last Patrol will be holding an Honor Ceremony for Navy Veteran Earl Riley at his home on Magnolia in Seattle. Earl is currently under hospice care and is confined to his bed.

Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class Earl Riley served in the US Navy in Vietnam in 1968/69 during the Tet offensive. He was based in I Corps at the Cua Viet Combat Base and Naval Support Activity. He operated an LCM Mod 3 that had been converted to a salvage vessel that provided support for combat operations along the Cua Viet River and surrounding areas.  His boat was attached to the USS Winston, an attack cargo ship. BM2 Riley received numerous awards during his service. He was put up for a Navy Accommodation Medal with V for his actions in saving a sinking LVT (Amtrac). Unfortunately the award was denied (he thinks) because he "borrowed" the COs fresh fruit without asking.

If you or any veterans you know are interested in attending please email me and I'll provide more detail - meeting location, time, address, etc.

Thanks,

Al Adams"

(webmaster note: Listening to Al's verbal presentation on 07 Dec, there will be many Veterans gathering by prior arrangement in front of Earl's house to provide some holiday cheer and to show support to this Veteran on his last patrol.  Contact Al Adams via e-mail if youo would like to participate).
